JP Saxe at the House of Blues in San Diego, California (Feelings Are Stupid Tour)
If the world was ending…
I feel very honored to have photographed JP Saxe’s first show on his first headliner tour. You may best know him for his part in creating “If The World Was Ending” with his now girlfriend, Julia Michaels (love her so much). JP Saxe is originally from Toronto, Canada but now resides in Los Angeles, California. He first studied the cello but soon discovered the piano, guitar, and songwriting. He began recording and now he is playing his music around the world. How cool is that?!
On October 18, 2021, JP Saxe was joined by Amy Allen and two of his closest friends, Adam and Alex, at the House of Blues in San Diego, California. Amy Allen warmed up the crowd and then welcomed JP and his bandmates to the stage. JP opened at the piano with a single spotlight. It was the perfect way to sink into the night. Everyone was ecstatic to be there, especially now that we are finally experiencing some semblance of normalcy after a tough period of isolation.. JP had dreamt of this moment for a long time and it sent goosebumps up my arms just witnessing it come to fruition.
JP and Adam are not strangers to sharing the stage with one another, but this was Alex’s first time with them. JP has known Alex and Adam for over a decade. Everyone in the audience could very well see the strong bond between these three musicians. Adam parked himself at the drum set for most of the night, but picked up the guitar for a few songs. Alex balanced his time between the guitar and the keyboards. It was honestly one of the chillest crowds I’ve ever experienced. Everyone was respectful and just happy to listen. As Kramer and Frank Costanza would say, it was “the place to be.”
Unfortunately, JP has tested positive for COVID-19 recently and has had to put his tour on pause, but will hopefully be back in action in time for his show at the Theatre of Living Arts in Philly!
HIs debut album Dangerous Levels of Introspection is available on all streaming platforms. Go give it a listen!
