Surprise Marriage Proposal with Champagne and Rose Petals at Sunset Cliffs Natural Park in San Diego, California

Surprise Marriage Proposal with Champagne and Rose Petals at Sunset Cliffs Natural Park in San Diego, California (San Diego Engagement Photographer)

Pop that bubbly, fiancé!

Tianna and Isaiah planned a vacation to beautiful San Diego from Ontario. Tianna was in a relaxed sun-dazed headspace while Isaiah was secretly preparing to ask one very important question.

When Isaiah approached me about capturing his proposal to Tianna, we chatted about several possible locations but when I showed Isaiah a few galleries from sessions at Sunset Cliffs, the choice was clear.

The setup was intentional and romantic: a picnic blanket, glass vases filled with roses, flower petals scattered across the sandstone, and champagne ready to pop.

When Tianna arrived, she thought they were heading out for a casual walk surrounded by stellar views. Soon enough, Isaiah was on one knee and proposing. What followed were real reactions, real laughter, and pure joy. The moment unfolded exactly as it was supposed to — intimate, special, and completely theirs.

After the Big “Yes”

We wandered the cliffs until the sun went down, letting the light do its thing and giving them space to just exist together as fiancés. No stiff posing, no overthinking — just movement, laughter, and that slightly surreal feeling of realizing you’re about to tell everyone you love about this new chapter.

The chemistry was off the charts and the golden-hour light delivered. We began with ring shots to give Tianna’s stunning diamond its moment and then transitioned into portraits and candids. As sunset approached, it was time to pop the champagne. They clinked glasses and enjoyed the moment as the sun sunk below the horizon. I couldn’t help but think how lucky and grateful I am to capture memories like these for such wonderful people like Isaiah and Tianna.
