Bree & Ed's Five-Year Anniversary Session

“The ocean is my sanctuary and my husband has accepted that part of me beautifully.” That sentence stuck with me. Bree and Ed’s fifth anniversary was coming up and they realized they hadn’t taken many photos together since their wedding! I feel like so many couples can relate to that.

Life gets busy. Weekends disappear. Your camera roll is full of photos of your dog, memes, and exactly three pictures of the two of you together. It was time to change that and what better way than at the beach, splashing around in the water. You don't need an engagement ring or a wedding timeline to celebrate your relationship. Sometimes the reason is simply, "We've built a life together, and we'd love to remember what this era looked like."

Why Coronado Beach?

Bree and Ed wanted to be near the water for their session which is fitting because of Bree’s love for the ocean and also because they met during Bree’s shift at the aquarium she worked at years ago! San Diego has no shortage of beautiful beaches, but for Bree and Ed, there was one clear choice — Coronado Beach.

This is one of my favorite places for couples photography in San Diego because of the stunning views, the beautiful blues and greens, it’s proximity to the famous Hotel Del, and the wide open spaces perfect for frolicking on the crisp, white sand.

We met just before sunset when the light is soft and life slows down. We were met with overcast skies and a nice breeze that gave Bree that model wind-swept hair we all strive for. Can we also take a moment for the dress?! Absolute perfection.

We warmed up with some traditional posing, lounging among the succulents, and then incorporated more movement. It’s all about the details and little moments, like the way he reached for her hand. The smiles and flirty vibes. The laughs when splashing each other in the water. Life doesn’t get much better than that!
