On Campus Graduation Portraits with Gracie at the University of San Diego

Pop the cork!

Even if you already graduated, it's not too late to take graduation portraits! Gracie graduated from the University of San Diego the year prior but never got around to taking photos so we took them now! I personally did not have a graduation portrait session when I graduated college and have always wished I had so better late than never. We decided to shoot on the university's picturesque campus, taking advantage of its beautiful architecture and the iconic chapel in the middle of campus, the Immaculata. It is always an honor to be asked to capture this important accomplishment in someone’s life and I very much appreciated the opportunity to do that for Gracie.

This campus is breathtaking and has been named the “Most Beautiful Campus” in the nation! Not surprising. We arrived at golden hour when lighting was pristine and the scenery gave us plenty to work with. Gracie was radiant in her white dress, sorority stole, and graduation gown accessorized with an infectious smile. Gracie was a natural in front of the camera, and her confidence and beauty shone through with each click of the shutter. Our mutual friend Heather joined in on the fun too and hyped our girl up for the camera!

The University of San Diego campus always provides an amazing backdrop for graduation photos. The white facade of the Immaculata and the blue skies make for a stunning contrast while the lush gardens add a pop of color with the flowers in full bloom. We took advantage of the natural golden hour light, played around with the shadows on the staircase, and even whipped out some champagne for a few shots! Gracie popped the bottle in the middle of the quad and NAILED it. Her playful energy made the photos come to life.

As a photographer, I feel incredibly fortunate to be able to capture such special moments in people's lives - this shoot was no exception. Ultimately, Gracie’s graduation portrait session was a massive success and it was a pleasure working with her. I'm thrilled that she will have these timeless images to cherish for a lifetime.
