Editorial Portraits at Casita Glenfeliz with TGS Collective in Los Angeles, CA
How “right-brained” of us
If there is one thing that can be said about me, it is that I cannot pass up the opportunity to collaborate with other creatives. Traveling to Los Angeles and making art with other photographers and models and stylists has become my favorite pastime. I am so grateful for girl bosses like Alex Morehouse, founder of TGS Collective, for attracting such wonderful artists and creating such a strong community.
During this meetup, my third with TGS Collective, I stepped outside of my comfort zone and tried some experimental techniques. I dusted off my fractal filters and slowed down my shutter speed. Sometimes I can be a scaredy-cat when it comes to experimenting because I don’t want to miss the perfect shot. However, I realized that I created some perfect shots because I took chances! Thank goodness.
Let’s talk about each of these beautiful, talented, powerful women pictured here. First up, we have Lynley. Have you ever seen more gorgeous red hair in your entire life?! She is a signed natural model in Los Angeles and New York. Emphasis on natural because she is such a natural in front of the camera. She knows her angles and the confidence just wafts off of her. It was a joy to observe her in action.
Next, we have miss Kirstie! The definition of a warm personality and contagious smile. She came prepped with awesome fits and a great attitude. She is also a certified personal trainer can’t you tell? Holy abdominals amirite? This was her first time attending a TGS meetup and I hope to shoot with her again very soon.
Lastly, the queen herself, Alex Morehouse. This girl does it all. She not only founded TGS Collective and organizes these amazing events, but is also a stylist, model, photographer, interior designer, business consultant, art director, and probably more. On top of that, she has been planning her wedding yay! When do you find time to sleep my friend?!
I loveee shooting with Alex. She is always open to new ideas and takes direction like a champ. It’s pretty unreal watching her pose because 1. she is so fluid with her movements and 2. she can essentially turn herself into a mannequin. Her ability to hold still is pretty astounding. I kept asking, “How are you doing this?” She is always having a good time which rubs off on everyone else. Alex and TGS have made me a better photographer, artist, and creative.
I am happy to tell you that I will be joining the TGS team in the upcoming months. I am so excited to support this organization and be apart of all the good they do. I am already counting down the days until the next TGS meetup with, wait for it, HORSIES. And Branden Ruiz. What a dream.
