Love at sea…

Another chapter in Sierra and Steven’s love story has begun. They met last October on a cargo ship they both worked on and made it official in June of this year. They are long distance but have been making it work and going strong clearly! Steven made his way to California to spend the week with his girl and brought a special gift with him - an engagement ring!

I hopped on a call with Steven and his mom ahead of time to go over the plan and answer any questions they had. The incoming rain showers were a concern but we chose a date and time that seemed safe and crossed our fingers. It ended up being a beautiful afternoon with stellar views and a bit of cloud cover which actually provides top tier lighting because it is consistent, prevents funky shadows on faces, and makes your skin look silky soft.

The plan was for Steven to bring Sierra to Torrey Pines before dinner to go for a nice stroll along the coastline. I was hiding in my designated bush with my cameras “locked and loaded” as they pulled up. I stealthily snapped a photo of them looking out at the ocean and waited for the big moment. Soon enough, Steven was going for his pocket and getting into position.

I heard such wonderful things about Sierra so it was amazing to witness their engagement and finally meet her! People either decide to have a brief engagement session afterwards while others would rather wait to experience a full engagement session later which is what Steven and Sierra opted for. Regardless, I will always deliver authentic, candid images and at least a few couples portraits from the first moments as fiancés. The cherry on top? Sierra and Steven received their gallery the same week!

My clients always say their proposal is a blur and that is more than enough reason to invest in a photographer to capture the moment. Contrarily from an outside perspective, the world seems to slow down when I see the knee hit the ground. I remember every smile, every embrace, every kiss, and every ring. Being trusted to photograph someone’s proposal, to be a part of the moment and even help plan it, is a responsibility I don’t take lightly. I am not just the photographer - I’m your planner, your stress sponge, your hype girl, your dream-maker. Tell me what you envision and I’ll make it happen.

Are you ready to begin your next chapter with the love of your life? Let’s design your dream engagement!
