Sheena and Dilan’s Surprise Marriage Proposal at Sunset Cliffs Natural Park in San Diego, California
When Dilan first reached out to me, he had a vision: a quiet, meaningful moment with his girlfriend Sheena at one of the most iconic spots in San Diego—Sunset Cliffs Natural Park. He didn’t want anything over the top—just a thoughtful setup that felt personal to their story. His plan? A postcard, a ring, and a question.
A Long-Distance Story
Dilan and Sheena have been in a long-distance relationship for most of their two years together, keeping their connection strong with postcards from the cities they’ve lived in or visited. So, when it came time to propose, Dilan knew he had to include one final postcard before the “long-distance” chapter of their relationship came to a close.
Planning the Proposal
Dilan and Sheena flew in from Texas over Labor Day weekend. He shipped everything ahead of time—a basket, champagne, glasses, flowers, and the postcard. On the front, he designed an illustration and on the back, he wrote the words, “Will you marry me?” Simple, thoughtful, and uniquely them.
When the day arrived, the sun peeked through the clouds just above the horizon giving a soft, calm light. The Pacific was doing its thing, with waves crashing against the rocks below. I set up the basket near a quiet corner of the cliffs, giving them a little privacy while still taking advantage of the epic scenery.
The Proposal
Dilan and Sheena arrived just before sunset, walking along the cliffs and taking in the view. She thought it was just a casual stroll before dinner, but when they got to the spot, it was clear something special was about to happen.
Dilan handed her the postcard and got down on one knee. It was an honest, meaningful moment between the two of them.
