Surprise Marriage Proposal and Engagement Session at Coronado Beach in San Diego, California
Picture this. The sound of waves crashing, sand between your toes, and the sun setting on the horizon. Taking it all in when suddenly, the love of your life gets down on one knee. After seven years of building a life together, Tucker and Tayler went to their favorite place, San Diego, to create yet another special memory. When it came time to plan their proposal, Coronado Beach felt like the perfect spot to mark the next chapter in their story.
Tucker and Tayler met in college and now share a life together in Seattle, occasionally escaping to San Diego for some R&R. The California lifestyle allows you to slow down and enjoy the moment — and that’s exactly what we wanted to capture. When Tucker reached out to me about planning his proposal, he knew Tayler would love something intimate, candid, and relaxed. Just a casual stroll along the beach and then BAM! A RING!
Coronado Beach at sunset is 100/10. With its wide stretches of sand and views of the iconic Hotel del Coronado in the background, it was the perfect setting for an engagement. Once Tucker dropped to one knee, my shutter went wild and I rushed over to capture all the immediate post-proposal emotions which were followed by a huge “Yes!” Once both Tayler and Tucker had their moment to themselves and had time to let it all sink in, we spent the rest of the session frolicking along the beach and basking in the golden hour light.
As a proposal photographer, I’m always about keeping things authentic and stress-free. My focus is helping my couples feel like themselves in front of the camera — no awkward poses or forced smiles. Just natural, candid moments that tell their story. Every couple is different — some may want an elaborate setup and others aim for a simple, intimate feel. Every proposal is heartfelt, unique, and beautiful. The number one rule when planning a proposal is to make it authentic to you as a couple.
