Styled “In-Home” Couples Session with Jaclyn and Davis at Influence Studios in San Diego, California
POV you met the love of your life…
Influence Studios, a new studio space in San Diego, approached me about a collaboration and I jumped at the opportunity! This new studio has 12 setups total: a bedroom, living room, kitchen, coffee bar, office, a blank space with various colored backdrops to select from, and more. I wanted to utilize the living room and the bedroom for a “in-home” couples session and I couldn’t imagine a better duo than Jaclyn and Davis.
I met Jaclyn and Davis at a van life meetup on Fiesta Island once upon a time. While I am not a van lifer, I went with some friends who were and brought my new puppy along for the ride. There’s no better way to make friends than getting a puppy I tell ya! Jax is a professional heart melter and Jaclyn and Davis were not immune. They came over for some pets and we clicked right away! We have become very close friends since then and when I asked if they’d be interested in this shoot, they were enthusiastically on board!
For this shoot, I asked them to come dressed in neutral colors and comfy clothing that they felt comfortable in and would wear around the house on a relaxing Sunday afternoon. I wanted this session to be candid and represent their authentic love for one another. I suggested prompts and poses as a starting point, but let Jaclyn and Davis simply interact with one another while I captured the magic. To do that in the most genuine way, the feeling of closeness and being intertwined was at the forefront of my mind. We had a silly, goofy time in the studio and I would photograph these two any time, any place.
If you’ve finally found your person, celebrate the hell out of it! Let’s chat about booking your own couples shoot and capturing this time in life with your partner to look back on when you’re old and gray.
