LGBTQ+ Couples Session at Sunset Cliffs with Kelsey and Lauren in San Diego, California
The best way to start the day.
Kelsey and Lauren planned a visit to San Diego from Denver, my homestead, and decided to have a couples shoot and I am so grateful they chose me because we had the BEST time! Our crazy asses decided a sunrise shoot would be best and it was totally the right call. Not only was the lighting impeccable, but Sunset Cliffs is much less crowded when most of the city is still asleep which made for a much more intimate session.
I pulled up to The Arch in my comfy clothes and there I see Kelsey and Lauren with an extra coffee *big teary eyed emoji.* As I chugged some caffeine, we chatted a little bit about Denver, their relationship, and their vacation plans. We clicked immediately and at 6:00am no less! That’s truly saying something.
We explored a bit and eased into the session. It was the first time either of them had been to Sunset Cliffs so there was no need to rush - soak it all in! I have to say that Kelsey and Lauren made me fall in love with my career even more. I can’t remember a session where I have laughed more. They were so welcoming to me and open to the creative process. It was very evident how safe Kelsey and Lauren felt with each other and that is beautiful to see. I set up a few poses, but most of our shoot was simply me capturing them naturally and very much in love.
People rarely feel comfortable in front of the camera, but it definitely helps having your partner and best friend by your side. What I love about couples sessions is that it is less about what the experience looked like, but what it felt like. As the photographer, I am of course there to capture your outer beauty but my main focus is the interaction and genuine emotions. Thank you Kelsey and Lauren for being vulnerable, allowing me to be your third wheel, and for choosing me to be your photographer.
